{"id":1300,"date":"2025-04-02T14:54:14","date_gmt":"2025-04-02T14:54:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cdb.netsoul.dev\/safety-standards\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T14:28:42","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T14:28:42","slug":"safety-standards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/camminobonaria.it\/en\/safety-standards\/","title":{"rendered":"Safety Standards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before you hit the road:<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Study each stage carefully<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take your ID card or passport with you and show it, if asked, to the appropriate authority<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Walk preferably during the day and check the weather before starting the Camino and, in any case, the evening before each individual stage by consulting specialized sites. If weather conditions worsen along the stage, stop at the first available shelter <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use caution if it is cold or very hot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect at every step the environment and places that will welcome your steps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When walking within cultivated areas, always respect the crops and possible processing  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Close the pedestrian gates after your passage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect all the structures of the Camino<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect the people you meet along the Camino and do not disturb the quiet of the towns and cities you pass through<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect the historical and artistic heritage you will encounter along the Camino<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never alone. It is preferable not to undertake the Camino alone<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measure your strength and avoid overdoing it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you encounter a guard dog along the way, here&#8217;s what to do (go to the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/camminobonaria.it\/en\/useful-information\/\">Useful Information<\/a>&#8221; page, &#8220;Guard Dogs &#8211; Gates (jacas)&#8221; section)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use great care on the sections on carriageable roads<strong>. <\/strong>This Camino, like the Camino de Santiago and the Via Francigena, also includes some sections on driveways. Much of the Camino is on paths and country lanes. Then on low-traffic intermunicipal and provincial roads.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When walking on driveways:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strict adherence to the Highway Code &#8211; Article 190 Highway Code (Behavior of Pedestrians) must be strictly adhered to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outside built-up areas, pedestrians are required to travel in the opposite direction to that of vehicles on two-way roadways and on the right-hand edge to the direction of travel of vehicles when it is a one-way roadway<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pedestrians, in order to cross the roadway, must use crosswalks, underpasses and overpasses. When these do not exist, or are more than one hundred meters away from the crossing point, pedestrians may cross the roadway only in a perpendicular direction, with the care necessary to avoid dangerous situations for themselves or others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pedestrians about to cross the roadway in an area with no crosswalk must give way to vehicles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not use earphones or otherwise use your phone, especially around curves and bumps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you are in a group, proceed in single file and take advantage of all the space made available by the left bank or right bank if it is a one-way traffic roadway<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Especially after sunset and at dawn, use the headlamp flashlight to attract the attention of motorists<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make yourself known by wearing reflective clothing, reflectors, glow-in-the-dark T-shirts (yellow, orange, white and red)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On backpacks apply small reflective strips<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In case of emergency.  <\/strong>Call the universal 112 NUE &#8211; Single European Number (medical emergency, fire brigade, public safety).
