The Way of Bonaria has entered into full swing. Already many are walking it, Sardinians and
“continentals.” Curiously, the first pilgrim from the day of its official inauguration
was a young Spaniard: leaving almost by chance from Fordongianus, he arrived in Cagliari
full of emotions. Soon after came Monica and Marco, a couple from Arezzo who
breathed, stage by stage, the joy and warmth of the welcome.
The Bonaria Walk was born in August 2020: four years of intense work, but
also of freedom, enthusiasm and celebration. The pioneers of the Walk have crossed it several times
to try the dust under their feet, to test it, perfect it and enrich it with history. Until
last June, when — in the presence of numerous faithful and pilgrims who came from all over the island —
was finally launched inside the Basilica of Bonaria, in Cagliari.
Today the Way is more than ever a living reality. It becomes the companion of the pilgrims who
walk it, it lets itself be told and transforms those who live it. And it is precisely to the stories that we want to give
space: many are sending videos and photographs, emotions and memories. Many wish
to transmit to future pilgrims what they have experienced along the stages of the
Bonaria Walk: the encounters, the waiting, the silences in the shadow of the oaks between Nuoro and Monte Gonare.
That is why we decided to open this space: to give voice to the Bonaria pilgrims,
to those who have already walked with a backpack on their back and to those who keep in their hearts the desire to
do it. But also to the many volunteers who have made the project possible: people who, in
silence, have donated time, skills and commitment, giving – symbolically and
concretely – a resting stone.
The Way is a great revolution of love: the tangible testimony that one can
live by giving, by caring for others. Giving makes one happy, it changes one’s life.
So, Happy walking to all, under the protection of Sardinia’s highest Patroness: the
destination of the Camino, its heart and the profound meaning of a rebirth that starts from oneself and that,
step by step, finds fulfillment. <\/p>
