Where to start. The door of the Bonaria Walk. Olbia is the gateway to the Way of Bonaria, specifically the Basilica of San Simplicio. Olbia can be reached by plane, ferry, train and car. We recommend arriving the day before you set out to enjoy this beautiful Gallura town and begin to get acquainted with the climate of Ichnusa, as the Greeks called the Island you are about to walk across.
How to get to Olbia. Train. Trains from Cagliari, Oristano and Sassari arrive at Olbia train station. The train station is 350 meters from the Basilica of San Simplicio. From Nuoro you can get to Olbia airport by Deplano bus making the following intermediate stops: Bivio Sologo, Siniscola, Budoni, San Teodoro. From the airport you can take buses from ASPO. From Nuoro and other towns in Sardinia, you can also get to Olbia by ARST buses whose station in Olbia is close to the railway station.
Airplane. Planes from many domestic and international airports land at Olbia Airport. The airport is well connected to the city of Olbia through services provided by ASPO buses (aspo.it). Ferry. Ferries arrive at the port of Olbia from other domestic ports, particularly Livorno and Civitavecchia. In the summer period also from Genoa and Piombino. As soon as you disembark you can walk to the Basilica of San Simplicio (2.5 km, 30 minutes) or take ASPO buses.
Cagliari, place of arrival of the Way. All important paths have an important destination. Cagliari is the capital of Sardinia, where you will find all the services to organize your return home. From Cagliari you can take the train, the ARST bus that connects all the territories of Sardinia, then the plane (the airport is 10 minutes from the city) and the ferry. The train station, ARST station and port are less than 1 km from the Basilica of Bonaria.
