On August 29, Insuperabile arrived in Bonaria, thus bringing the sixth edition of the Inclusion Relay to a close.
Even though a few days have passed, my mind and heart are still there, on the journey, together with everyone who took part in it. And who knows how much longer they’ll stay there.
Experiencing this project as a participant—and, even before that, as an organizer—offers a special perspective. First, you imagine it, study it, and plan every detail for months; then you experience it in all its fullness and intensity, discovering that what you had feared would be logistical challenges suddenly turn into unique moments.
A great deal of preparatory work went into this: the support and ongoing dialogue with the association’s volunteers were essential to me, and thanks to them, I was able to streamline the entire complex organization. These empathetic and extraordinary people provided concrete assistance and genuine hospitality on the ground, including refreshment stations along the routes, family-style lunches and dinners, and official meetings.
It was 10 days spent walking and biking under a blazing sun and a blue sky. But what will stay with me aren’t the exhaustion, the heat, or the thirst—it’s the glances, the chatter, and the stories each of us shared. And then there were the smiles, the laughter, and the spontaneous sharing. It will be the encounters, the exchanges, the letting go, and the embracing—even if only for a few hours—of someone else’s story and life experiences.
The true strength and uniqueness of this project lie precisely in the awareness that each of us is accepted and valued exactly as we are. Everyone is unique and irreplaceable, with their own vulnerabilities or limitations, but no less valuable or essential to building a true community.
Insuperabile has walked over 4,000 km on Italian trails: Bonaria’s journey—with all that he has given and shared—will remain in our hearts forever.
