The Brescia-based association PedalAbile, part of the InSuperAbile project, along the Cammino di Bonaria

From August 20 to 24, 2026, as the PedalAbile association, we had an experience that will stay in our hearts for a long time: the Cammino di Bonaria, which my son Riccardo and I traveled by tandem bike, together with our wonderful friends from InSuperAbile, the “relay for inclusion.”

Five days of cycling, shared effort, and landscapes that unfolded before us stage by stage. But even more than the kilometers we covered, what we’re taking home with us is the sense of community that forms when you tackle a challenging journey together: the breaks to catch our breath, the laughter along the way, and the mutual support during the toughest stretches.

For us, the tandem is much more than just a mode of transportation: it’s a tool for inclusion, a way to share the joy of movement and discovery without leaving anyone behind. Every time we pedaled in sync with Riccardo, it was a small but meaningful gesture of mutual trust.

Special thanks also go to the volunteers of the Cammino di Bonaria, whose quiet and tireless dedication made every stage of our journey possible, and to all those who welcomed and hosted us along the way, offering us warmth, kindness, and a sense of home away from home.

We can’t wait for our next journey together.
