There were many of us in the council chamber of Aritzo (NU) to celebrate the dean of Sardinian pilgrims: Francesco Calledda, known to everyone as Zigo. He is one of the pioneers of the Bonaria Pilgrimage, a pilgrim known in every corner of the island. At 88 years old, he has the energy of a twenty-year-old. In 2025, responding to Pope Francis’s call, he walked to all 47 Jubilee churches in Sardinia. Our president, Antonello Menne, dedicated a book to him titled “Zigo, Pilgrim of Hope.” It was an evening marked by friendship and sharing, just like every stage of our journey.
