Next Sept. 27, departing at 8:30 a.m. from the school premises, fifty students from the Liceo scientifico e linguistico E. Fermi high school in Nuoro, accompanied by their teachers, will walk the sixth stage of the Cammino di Bonaria, joined by volunteers from the association of the same name. The stage, which winds from Monte Ortobene to the towns of Orani and Sarule, will see the students start from Via Veneto, cross the city of Nuoro and reach the summit of the Sanctuary of Monte Gonare, referred to as the Summit of the Bonaria Walk.
It will be a day marked by the freedom and sharing of walking together. The community dimension, which prevails over the individualistic one, will find expression in mutual expectation, in caring for those in need and in caring for those who share the same goal. It will also be an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the Mediterranean maquis as it prepares to welcome autumn and winter, as well as to admire the landscape of central Sardinia from above.
Folk songs have always celebrated the harmony of the three peaks of Gonare, which can be admired from every corner of the Island. Students will thus be able to contemplate the villages that rise at the foot of the shrine and gather sensations and reflections that will be useful in facing the next stages of the Bonaria Walk.
For the teachers of the Liceo scientifico, the walk in the company of volunteers from the Associazione del Cammino di Bonaria will represent a moment of discussion on the values that this experience proposes not only to pilgrims, but to the entire community: respect for rules, the essentiality of material goods and listening to the custodians of the territory.
On the initiative, Antonello Menne, president of the Bonaria Walk, said:
“Walking alongside the students of the Nuoro High School of Science is for us a moment of great emotion and responsibility. The future of this path, as of many other similar experiences, will be increasingly marked by the awareness of the students, to whom we wish to pass the baton so that, with their sensitivity and purity of spirit, they can grow this path that leads to the feet of the Maximum Patroness of the Island.” The students and their teachers will be welcomed in Gonare by local administrators from Orani and Sarule. The day will end with a time of conviviality in the cumbessias, opened for the occasion by friends of the committee.
