It is recommended to leave no later than 4 a.m. to arrive by 11:30 a.m. at the final appointment of the walk. The stage can still be broken in two by planning to arrive at Monserrato-Church of the Redeemer (km 18.4), where you will sleep. Tomorrow morning you will leave to face the final stage (Monserrato-Bonaria 8.4 km) very calmly.
The night has passed sleeplessly (from excitement) and you find yourself in front of the parish church San Sebastiano Martire; you are about to begin the stage to Nostra Signora di Bonaria. After a very short stretch (950 meters) on SP 9, you will take a dirt road that, following the arrows of the Way, will take you to Monserrato. From now on, you will be accompanied only by the sound of your footsteps and the vegetation of the lush Campidano countryside. At km 18.4 you will enter the parish of the Most Holy Redeemer. Here you will make a stop. You will be welcomed by the Siste Viator stone. At this point you can also stop to pray and rest your feet. But most of all to prepare yourself for the encounter with the Great Lady who came from the sea. Stamp your credential and make your final decision: stop and sleep here in Monserrato or continue on to Cagliari. If you decide to continue, another 8.4 kilometers await you, which you will do by walking along Via Caracalla until you reach Via Sironi and then continue on Via Pisano, leaving the Terramaini Canal on your left. After Via Gioia, walk along Via Castiglione to reach the elegant Via Dante Alighieri: you are crossing the center of the city of Cagliari, your heart is racing! Then turn right into via Logudoro and then left into via Sonnino until you reach via Cristoforo Colombo: at last the sea, you had last seen it on the day of your departure from Olbia, now it has come to meet you to bring you to the feet of the Maximum Patroness of Sardinians. Follow the arrows to Piazza Paolo VI, turn your gaze to the left, and suddenly the majestic basilica of Bonaria is before you.
Those who want to touch one of the places of rebirth with which the Walk has undertaken a strong collaboration can reach the Juvenile Prison of Quartucciu and from there set out to Monserrato and then walk to the final destination of Our Lady of Bonaria for 14.9 km. Below you will find the digital trail “Carcere minorile Quartucciu – Monserrato”
Variant: beware, at km 9.3, especially in the rainy period, the passage may be impeded by the formation of a watercourse. We suggest following the detour to Sestu by downloading the digital track “Variante Sestu”.
“Medium” difficulty stage with arrival in Monserrato, “Medium-difficult” with arrival in Bonaria.
