3 Alà dei Sardi – Bitti

With today’s stage, you enter Barbagia from Logudoro. Much of the route follows an old mule track, the via della transumanza, the one shepherds used to travel from the Bitti Plateau and Buddusò to the milder areas of Olbia. After 11 km of walking, at the crossroads of Orunittà, you will find an arrow pointing to the Mamone Penal Colony (at 6.5 km). Mamone is a prison house with which the Il Cammino di Bonaria Association has made a pact of friendship and collaboration. Much of this stretch is state property and belongs to the Coiluna forestry site. Wooded territory with cork oaks, holm oaks and downy oaks. At km 17.9 you will find a Siste Viator stone that marks the entrance to the Romanzesu archaeological site, one of the most important in all of Sardinia. A stop is a must. At km 24.7 you will start an important descent that, after 2.4 km, will take you to the entrance of the village. Bitti is about to welcome you.
Bitti contacts: for any urgency or need you can contact the stage contacts: 328 899 8921 (Franco); 328 032 0519(Diego); 328 8325816 (Enza); 328 131 6177 (Pietrina).

Next you will find two digital tracks: the first one that takes you from Alà dei Sardi to Bitti; the second one for those who want to start the stage directly from the Mamone Prison House to Bitti.
