This is a challenging but exciting stage because of its beauty. After 2.9 km from the start, you encounter the Sanctuary of St. Francis. A special place for all Sardinians. Make a stop to hear the voices of the novenanti and pilgrims who every year in May and October, invoking the Poverello of Assisi, gather in prayer to fulfill a vow and then celebrate. The route is in open country mostly along a weather-marked walkway.
At km 15.2, it meets the headquarters of the Approdi Cooperative, a social-sanitary rehabilitative community of reception and assistance for the disabled. The Association Il Cammino di Bonaria has made a pact of friendship and collaboration with this facility. Knock on the door for a glass of water and a moment of sharing.
At the entrance to Nuoro you will be greeted by the beautiful Church of Our Lady of Solitude, which houses the remains of Grazia Deledda. You will be able to enter; on the left you will find a stall with a stamp for your credential.
For those who wish to continue, the CAI 101 trail leading to Monte Ortobene begins from the little church of Solitudine, another 3.9 km uphill. We recommend, however, that you end the stage in Nuoro and stay overnight in town. Tomorrow morning you can reach the top of Redentore on foot, by bus or by car with the service offered by the hospitaleros. From Redentore you will leave for Orani and Sarule.
